I’m Going Underground
Like, for real.

The first step to getting better is admitting that you have a problem. I have a problem. I am powerless over the filth in my home, especially my basement.
Therefore, I will be taking the next two weeks to go underground and get my basement and the rest of my surroundings in order.
The clutter and stress of the disorganization in my home have gotten to the point where it is affecting my focus and concentration. Writing has become problematic because I feel guilty that I am not cleaning. And when I clean, I feel guilty that I am not writing. This has been an ongoing problem, and something has to give.
So, after much thought, I will be stepping away from writing for a while. L. K. Smithe will be joining me.
L. K. and I plan to return more organized and better able to direct our energy toward writing. And, who knows, we might find Jimmy Hoffa in the basement, which would make for a hell of a book and Netflix movie.
Anyway, I have created a new list of old stories called “Etc.” for you to check out, so you don’t forget about me/us. I will continue reading your posts and comments while I get my home and life in order. See you all in July.
Linda Kowalchek is a work in progress and a member of the typewriter generation. She also writes stories about life and relationships under the name L. K. Smithe. Don’t forget the “e” on “Smithe.”
